Pastoral Care and Discipleship
Dedications - Dedication of children involves three information sessions using specially designed Pre-Dedication Counseling material.
Funeral and Memorial Services - Families or individuals needing assistance with funerals or funeral planning may discuss this with the corps officer.
Marriage Ministry - Weddings are conducted following pre-marital counselling by the corps officer(s).
Prayer Ministry - Prayer is the backbone of the Christian life. At Yorkminster, the Sunday morning Prayer Gathering offers intrercessory prayers in a group setting. Prayer requests may be left in the Prayer Box at the back of the sanctuary.
Visitation Ministry - Caring for others is central to life as a Christian. There is opportunity to express your faith through visitation in private homes, retirement residences, nursing homes and hospitals and through helpfulness to those in need. Visitation training is provided. This is also referred to as the League of Mercy.
Growing in our knowledge of God and the ability to live our faith is what the Christian life is. Formal instruction helps with this discipleship.
Bible Study - There are several opportunities to study and learn the Bible in a small group setting. These groups meet at the church and in homes. All groups are open to newcomers.
Library - Sharing the depth of Christian resources that help us understand, share and grow in our faith.
Membership Classes - These are available for those wishing to become Junior or Senior Soldiers. Orientation classes about Yorkminster Citadel and The Salvation Army for Adherents and newcomers are also available.
Fellowship
Seniors Group - Keeping active is important to seniors. This group meets biweekly and all seniors are welcome.
Young People - Various clubs and sports teams provide activities for church members and their friends.
Women's Fellowship - A number of activites are provided with women especially in mind.
